Sodhi or Hodhi ?

Sodhi : As much as Tamil Nadu has its version called Tirunelveli Sodhi - The neighbouring Kerala has Istew but it’s when it traveled down to Sri Lanka the magic exploded. I actually heard this word first from my srilankan aunt who was from tirunelveli and her Sodhi was an amalgamation of celyonise and tamil cuisine, Sodhi always finds a place at south Indian cuisine.

Sodhi which is all about Coconut, It is something one can't remove from South India, at times an whole menu could revolve around coconuts, versatile to say the least.
It is a debatable fact that Sodhi actually found its way into the Celoynise cuisine either from Tamil Nadu or its neighbouring Kerala, Hodhi/ Sodhi is a delicate preparation of coconut milk stew with very little rooster list of ingredients, normally accompanying the string hoppers commonly known as Idiyappam in Kerala and Tamil Nadu states of India,

The street vendors of Tamil Nadu used to carry baskets on their heads, normally early mornings is the time frame- Those were quite a size and it needed help to get them down, and as they opened it , Fluffy stringy Idiyappams bright white to the eyes, and they would also have a milk can of sorts where freshly squeezed coconut milk would be served along side, and not to forget some sugar and freshly grated coconuts, but this is all what I knew growing up around idiyappam.

But, when I first tasted Sodhi courtesy of my fellow Chef from Srilanka Pradeek (Nadodi) and along with an array of sambols thats when I realised there is more to the idiyappam what I have been eating all these years has only remained sweet tooth to it , The sodhi which is a delicate preparation with just a few ingredients- turmeric, onions,Pandan leaves and fenugreek all stewed skilfully, the control of temperature is an important aspect to nail a perfect sodhi and off course its all in the seasoning too.

Having tasted both the versions, Idiyappam with Grated coconut and sugar which has ever stuck since childhood and to find a perfect compatriot in the form of String hoppers with Sodhi and sambols, its pretty confusing to lay claim my memory topples over the recent experiences over the hoppers with sodhi and sambol.
Hence the #flavourdisruptor in me decided it could be worked upon, and when the Idea from Akshar - the Core member of Nadodi and its Mixoligist said why not Ice cream, after our recent fad at Singapore having a Laksa Ice cream at Cheek By Jowl of Rishi ( one Michelin star) we felt it could be worked upon to show the confused mind, and perfectly rhymes with the fact _ Similar Yet Unique.
